Berryessa CERT helped staff the Napa County CERT table at the Napa County Emergency Preparation Fair.
The Napa County Board of Supervisors hosted a Community Open House and Emergency Preparedness Fair at the County Administration Building at 1195 Third Street, Napa on June 4th, 2019 from 4:00-7:00 PM.
The fair had a good turnout from residents and with 11 Napa county departments attending along with other volunteer organizations. There were 45 different tables with information on a variety of emergency preparedness aspects. The fair provided information on emergency planning, evacuation routes, emergency kits, emergency planning for pets, sign ups for emergency alerts such as Nixle and even included raffle prizes and items for kids.
A lot of residents had never heard of CERT so it was a great opportunity to educate the public on how CERT works to educate and keep our communities safe. - Shelly van Rijn, Berryessa CERT Team Leader
Shelly van Rijn, Team Leader for Berryessa CERT, was on hand to help staff the Napa County CERT table and answer any questions about CERT from Napa County residents. CERT members from Napa and American Canyon were also on hand and the CERT table provided flyers on what CERT does for our communities and sign ups for the next training class.
